I’m a student of high school in Iowa city. I worry about new international students because when I was in here first time, I was too laborious. Therefore, I hope that you are not laborious when you arrive here. I recommend to study English before coming here. If you study hard English before coming, you can easily adapt in here.
English is very important in here and anywhere. Because America is the most powerful country in the world. If you want to study in America, you are supposed to know about basic expressions. For instance, “What time is it?” “I’m looking for ‘Old Capital’, where is it?” and so on. It’ll be helpful to you. When I was coming to Iowa, I lost my way in a airport. At that time, I couldn’t hear everything that they spoke to me. Eventually, I missed my airplane to come Iowa from Cicago. Fortunately, I had been helped the other Korean. This is not just my story, it can also happen to you. Therefore you must study English.

So, let’s me mention that how you can study English in your native country?
Every parts of English is very important, but I think, if you are going to live in America, speaking and listening are important. Because if you can not speak and listen, you can not do anything such as buy some good or ask about something that you are curious. As time goes by, definitely you can understand and speak fluently, but first time, to come here, those are very hard to catch yourself. In my case, when I was in here first time, I didn’t understand mostly. It irritated me ,even though you aren’t in America, you can study these by some movie without subtitles, some tapes are composed by only English and memorize those things. Also, writing and reading are important. After you can understand about speck and listen, Writing and reading will be irritating you. When I was in high school before take IIEP classes, I had to write some essay in English class and I usually got poor score. I think writing is the worst part in English. However, you can improve your writing from as write diary in English, read a book and that my grammar teacher said “always think in English, It’s going to help all over your English skill. Definitely these will help you.
